what we do

find a program

Whether you are a teacher searching for an ʻāina-based education site, a coach looking for a team bonding experience, a CEO interested in staff development, a counselor who needs a safe place for a challenged youth to be mentored or someone looking for organic wholesome staple foods to feed your family, we have the program for you.

KŪKULUHOU PROGRAM

We mentor youth in the ways of our kupuna, keeping traditional values alive and restoring the ‘āina. Through the cultivation of kalo and Hawaiian values-based coaching, Hoʻokuaʻāina empowers youth by helping them develop life strategies and skills so that together we can build healthy communities.

Through our flagship mentoring program, youth ages 12-25 facing challenging life circumstances are connected with land, culture, and community. A key component of this program is one-on-one mentoring with experienced life coaches.

KUPUOHI PROGRAM

Our K-12 ʻāina-based education program targets both public and charter schools that enroll underserved students. The multiple-visit education program provides opportunities for students to flourish by connecting to the land and Hawaiian culture through kalo cultivation and the teaching of Native Hawaiian values. Our curriculum aligns with the Office of Hawaiian Education's Nā Hopena Aʻo standards. We provide resources, lessons, and curricular support to teachers, partner with them on events and lessons, and host students, families, and faculty in the loʻi.

KAIĀULU PROGRAM

Hoʻokuaʻāina hosts weekly community days. By participating, volunteers learn the traditional way of cultivating kalo and make meaningful connections to place and others while having fun in the mud. We welcome volunteers on a regular basis offering scheduled events for businesses, clubs, schools, organizations, and individuals.
